- Northern Oklahoma College is a two-year, state supported college founded in 1901 by the Oklahoma Territorial Legislature. Tonkawa, Oklahoma, site of the original 120-acre Northern Oklahoma College Campus, is a rural community of approximately 3500 people. It is located 12 miles west of Ponca City on U.S. Highway 60 and just two miles east of Interstate Highway 35. Tonkawa campus has six residence halls which can house approximately 380 students. Northern offers over 50 associate degrees in three general areas: Arts, Science, and Applied Science. Northern Oklahoma College offers programs in 64 fields of study leading to the Associate of Arts, Associate of science, or Associate of Applied Science degree. The AA and AS degrees are designed as transfer programs to four year institutions, while the AAS degree represents a career program for those seeking training and job skills. The college Acadmic division includes Business, Fine Arts, Health, Physical Education & Recreation, Language Arts, Nursing, Science & Mathematics, Social Science and Developmental Studies, Counseling & Tutoring.
